[Today, Papyrus has found a few cinder blocks, and has made himself a makeshift podium. People go about their days around him, but it doesn't seem to be bothering him that much.]

CITIZENS OF VIOLET CITY! I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, IMPLORE YOU ALL TO GAZE UPON AND ADORE THE NEWEST ADDITION TO MY SUPER TEAM OF SUPER MONSTERS!

[He holds up a Shinx, ala Lion King. The Shinx itself doesn't seem to mind, having a bit of a derpy expression on it's face.]

BEHOLD! I PRESENT TO YOU ALL, THE GREAT LUMINARI! ONCE HE'S COMPLETED HIS INITIAL TRAINING, THE VIOLET CITY GYM BADGE WILL BE OURS! THEN! NOTHING WILL BE STOPPING ME FROM COLLECTING THE AZALEA CITY GYM BADGE! AND THEN THE GOLDENROD CITY GYM BADGE! NYEH-HEH-HEH! [...Well, you know what, that was a little on the amateurish side but Mettaton can't really say that he disapproves too much, either.

He's not making his presence known in a terribly obvious way, not at first; there are certain qualities that can be activated at a moment's notice, when you're used to it, a presence that can be flipped on as easily as one would a lightswitch, the sort of thing that makes you immediately noticeable in a crowd of people that was utterly ignoring you before, and it's that sort of confidence that he ticks over into and turns on as he approaches. No longer a member of a faceless crowd idly watching the proceedings, more obviously a celebrity greeting someone on the street, and he seems rather comfortable that way.

And really, there's nothing to do right now other than just kind of slow-clap it out for goddamn Luminari over there, who either has the patience of a champion or is entirely too dumb to care, and either way it's not a bad trait to have in a companion.]

My, my... I wasn't expecting to run into you here, much less in the middle of a performance like that! Absolutely marvelous, darling. Very formidable.

[Seriously, he likes his coffee about as aggressively blonde as it gets; it's acidic, sure, but it gets close to floral if the place does it right, and this is one of the few places in Violet that does.

...That said, hopefully you aren't planning on buying for him, because he's not particularly here for that - he can handle himself well enough, as far as ordering and working out payment goes, so just...let him do that...]
